National Opal Collection
The National Opal Collection was formed from the merger of the retail operations of Cody Opal Australia and Gemtec. These two companies, which were both founded in 1971, have grown to become Australia's leading exporters and retailers of opal.
Award-winning Cody and Gemtec are recognized around the world as the major source, not only for opal, but also for information on opal, having featured in countless film documentaries and press articles. Both are major exporters to the international gem and jewellery trade.
The National Opal Collection has assisted the Australian Museum with important research into the origins of opal formation. It has also loaned the museum important specimens. This may prove vitally important to the future of the opal industry which is experiencing a dramatic decrease in production.
In 2006 The National Opal Collection was awarded a prestigious Victorian Tourism Merit Award for tourism retailing. The outlets at its Sydney and Melbourne locations make an ideal inclusion in an incentive or post-convention or conference programme -- and is a 'must' for visitors seeking a truly Australian gift for somebody special.
TCMG represents the National Opal Collection throughout the UK and Europe.
