Kings Canyon Resort -- a choice of activities

There are several Outback tour options available for guests staying at Kings Canyon Resort, which is located in Watarrka National Park, just nine kilometres from the magnificent Kings Canyon in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Kurrparru Tours offer daily guided walks around the canyon rim and along Kings Creek. Led by an Aboriginal guide, the walks provide guests with an understanding of this breathtaking environment through the eyes of the traditional custodians. Learn about Aboriginal kinship, customs, bush foods, tools & weapons, medicine plants and their use by Aboriginal people.

Australian Pacific Tours and AAT Kings also run a Kings Canyon Rim Walk. This walk is over rocky terrain and steep in places and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness.

An aerial view of Kings Canyon with a helicopter tour is the best way to appreciate the true beauty and grandeur of Kings Canyon. The helicopters feature unique bubble windows that allow you to take photos unimpeded.

For foodies (and romantics) the Under a Desert Moon Gourmet Experience is a ‘must’. This is a private gourmet experience at Kings Canyon Resort and is designed for intimacy and romance with no more than eight couples dining on any one night. Imagine the romance of a table for two in a wilderness setting under a canopy of the Southern Night sky.

While you enjoy the atmosphere, a superb six course menu is served, accompanied by some of Australia’s finest wines. Undera Desert Moon is a fantastic way to unwind after a day hiking through Kings Canyon and Watarrka National Park. It operates every night between April 1 and October 31

Kings Canyon Resort was built to blend in harmoniously with the surrounds and offers a wide range of accommodation. The resort includes the Kings Canyon Resort Hotel with standard rooms and deluxe spa rooms, and the Holiday Park with a real Outback Caravan Park & Campground and backpacker accommodation.

Both offer a level of comfort you wouldn’t expect to find in such a remote Outback location – but note: there is no mobile phone coverage at Kings Canyon Resort.
