Up, up and away -- the air show is back

Anybody with an interest in aviation will want to touch down in Melbourne at the beginning of March. The 2011 Australian International Airshow is being staged in nearby Geelong with the opportunity to experience some of the best high flying action you’ll see anytime, anywhere this year.

The biennial event is being held across six days at Avalon Airport near Geelong at the beginning of March. The show will open to the public on Friday March 4 (from 09.00 to 18.00), Saturday March 5 and Sunday March 6 (from 08.00 to 18.00).

The Australian International Airshow is internationally recognised for its exciting flying displays -- all of which are staged just metres from public viewing areas. Around 500 military, historic, commercial and civil aircraft will be on display at the show also, so there is plenty of action both on the ground and in the air.

The Royal Australian Airforce is a major partner in this outstanding event, and as 2011 marks the 90th anniversary of the RAAF, so the 2011 Australian International Airshow will be a true celebration of aviation history.

Mirvac offer a selection of hotels in Melbourne. Here's a tip: tie in a visit to the Australian International Airshow with a drive along the Great Ocean Road, stopping at The Sebel Deep Blue Warrnambool along the way.
